an explanation of sorts

Rachel S. Reed

Erstwhile Anthropologist

Welcome to my repository of projects defunct, current, and nascent. My interests tend to coalesce around the intersections among material culture, gender, social history, consumerism, semiotics, and animal-human relationships—or multi-species ethnography, if you want to be hip-circa-2019 about it. (I’m not as pretentious as I sound. Peanut butter & jelly is my favorite sandwich.)

If you are interested in collaborating or learning more about my professional services, let’s connect.

Aside from the intellectual diversions spewed above, I have spent over a decade applying social science perspectives in the service of a variety of educational, social service, and arts organizations. Prior to that, I wrote two long-winded academic theses that center on bovines, with an emphasis on the ways in which cultural institutions mediate human interactions with the natural world. My hobbies include crocheting, billiards, reading, re-watching Frasier, and dancing (chiefly tango, lindy hop, and balboa). Sometimes I sing.
